ABOVE: Marples 2690 Prefabricated Plane
Welcome to the Marples Planes website, originally started by collector and Marples enthusiast Roger Ball and (largely) retired infill planemaker Cameron Miller.
This website has been created to assist collectors and users alike in identifying, restoring and caring for the large range of handplanes and spokeshaves manufactured by Marples Tools over their long history. With this in mind we hope you enjoy your stay here as you peruse the site.
Roger now has a much larger and expanded website dedicated to William Marples & Sons and the countless tools they made and offered in their catalogues over the years. All of the hand plane type studies that were originally on this site can now be found on the new site. This site will still exist as a resource dedicated solely to Marples planes and spoke shaves, with a heavy emphasis on lots of images of the various tools in question.
For those interested you may also wish to check out Roger’s other handplane sites for WS Tools Birmingham and Woden Tools (along with fellow collector, Graham Dolan.)
